    Signs and Symptoms of an Anxiety Disorder

    Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in America, even more common than depression. Anxiety disorders cost the United States of America $46.6 billion every year.Generalized Anxiety Disorder is just one of these anxiety disorders. Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms affect approximately 4 million people in America alone on a regular basis. Interestingly enough, it also affects twice as many women as men.

    A person with anxiety status may suffer different anxiety disorder symptoms. And because there are no two individuals same, the anxiety disorder symptoms may differ from one person to the other.. Worry, fear, and anxiety are a normal part of our life. Have you ever experienced feeling anxious before taking an exam and later find out that you got a higher result more than what you have expected?     Treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

    Generalized Anxiety Disorder  sufferers have unrelenting worry and anxiety. Everybody worries about things everyday, but GAD victims take it to another level completely. Everyday things, issues and events, that most folks handle without obsessively worrying about them, become major issues for someone with general anxiety disorder.     Medication For Generalized Anxiety Disorder

    Unlike normal anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder doesn’t just show up during stressful times in your life. This experiences of fear, uneasiness and nervousness could have a lasting everyday effect for up to 6 months. Once anxiety gets this bad, it most likely grows into a social fear and could very well get worse if not treated quickly.

This condition regardless of belief is not derived from unknown, accidental, or uncontrollable events. Benzodiazepines such as diazepam (also known as Valium) and lorazepam (Xanax) are the most commonly prescribed medications for this type of disorder, but it should be noted that there is not much clinical research that has shown these types of medications to be more effective than others.     GAD sufferers may take psychotherapy which is an effective treatment for intense, serious GAD conditions. Usually, a therapist and a support group will help you battle your anxieties away and help you improve your relaxation methods further. Another effective treatment is biofeedback which involves a process wherein you can hear or view your body’s physiological wellbeing influenced by your stress. There are also exercises that can help you banish your anxieties such as progressive muscle relaxation. You can practice this twice a day for a several months.

    For those who have advanced GAD symptoms, certain medications are prescribed. These include antidepressants to lessen the signs and symptoms caused by GAD and buspirone. You can also opt for medicinal supplements like Kava, Valerian, Vitamin B and folic acid. Kava is an herb which helps you relax and be calmer without sedation. However, Valerian can relieve tension and nervousness due to its sedative effects. Downing Vitamin B and folic acid has its benefits as it helps the body get more energized by making healthy new cells.
